Salesforce, the cloud services giant, is now taking further steps in AI and automation. The latest step involves weaving generative AI with their collaboration platform Slack.
Just over a month ago, Salesforce revealed that it planned to integrate ChatGPT into Slack. Now, during the World Tour New York, the company has taken the leaf from its mouth and talked about the next step in this bigger vision – the launch of Slack GPT. – Among other things, it will enable users to integrate responsible AI on a secure platform, and be able to use the organization’s own data together with the generative AI capability directly in Slack, says Inger Lise Eng, Sweden manager at Salesforce. Salesforce believes that with Slack GPT, customers will be able to work more efficiently, more insightfully and improve their communication. Inger Lise Eng explains further: – You can, for example, have conversations summarized and have writing help just a click away. You can also convert search results into a summary in text. Instead of scrolling through the search results, users can ask Slack GPT to provide a descriptive summary in text so that information can be found more quickly. Slack GPT will also offer other services such as summarizing conversations from Slack’s audio and video calling service huddle, updates on unread Slack messages, or the ability to ask Slack GPT to join a meeting and immediately provide a summary and advice on next steps.
An AI-adapted Platform
The new platform Slack is AI-compatible and offers a so-called no-code platform where companies can create customized workflows, automate processes and make safe, data-driven decisions. The platform also supports integrations with several different language models, which can contribute to better adaptation to the needs of specific organizations. Language models such as OpenAI’s ChatGPT, Anthropic’s Claude, and language models funded by Salesforce Venture’s generative AI fund are all compatible. – Generative AI has enormous potential to simplify work processes and contribute to better productivity and business benefit. The technology comes into its own when AI can analyze data from the company’s most reliable resource – the company’s internal knowledge.
