ChargePoint and Mercedes-Benz strengthen driver experience – develop fast charging network in North America

ChargePoint Holdings, Inc. a leading global electric vehicle charging network, Mercedes-Benz automaker and MN8 Energy, one of America’s largest solar, stationary and renewable energy providers, today announced plans to jointly develop over 400 charging hubs across the United States and Canada, to immediately expand the availability of fast charging there.
Powered by the ChargePoint network, Mercedes-Benz charging hubs will be located in key cities and towns, along major highway corridors and near conveniently located retail and service destinations. Starting this year, ChargePoint, Mercedes-Benz and MN8 will develop more than 400 charging hubs across North America with over 2,500 ChargePoint fast charging locations that will enable a high-quality, sustainable and reliable charging experience for EV drivers. MN8 and Mercedez-Benz will jointly finance and manage the charging hubs, powered by ChargePoint’s industry-leading charging hardware and software solutions. “Dominant automakers like Mercedes-Benz continue to lead the transition to electric mobility by bringing new EVs to market, while ChargePoint continues its commitment to deliver the simplicity drivers expect and the charging speed they need for any vehicle – anytime, anywhere drivers want,” said Pasquale Romano, CEO, ChargePoint. “With this partnership, we extend our existing relationships with Mercedes-Benz and MN8 to deliver a seamless charging experience for drivers, as well as turnkey charging solutions – with no upfront costs for venue hosts. We believe that the deployment of charging hubs like these will enable the emergence of a new 30-minute retail economy, at the intersection of innovation and accessibility that combines charging and commerce, to provide drivers with an unparalleled experience of fast and easy charging.” “Mercedes-Benz customers deserve a compelling charging experience that simplifies electric car ownership and long car journeys. That’s why we’re launching an advanced global charging network that will offer a charging experience that matches the extraordinary Mercedes driving experience. We are happy to start here in North America with our two strong and experienced partners ChargePoint and MN8 Energy, says Ola Källenius, Chairman of the Board of Management of Mercedes-Benz Group AG. The Mercedes-Benz hubs will primarily be powered by ChargePoint Express Plus, one of the most advanced and powerful DC fast charging platforms designed for companies that want to be able to scale their EV charging management in the long term.
